HAND AESTHETICS IN PARIS!
It is our distinct pleasure and honor to invite you to the forthcoming 3rd MEGA HAND International Symposium (Multidisciplinary European Group for Aesthetics of the Hand) to be held in Paris, France on March 19-20, 2010. This meeting is a multidisciplinary symposium covering all surgical, medical and paramedical fields of the Hand and Upper Limb aesthetics and unaesthetics, from nail to shoulder and from reconstruction to rejuvenation. Multidisciplinarity, innovation, excellence and international spirit are among the main ambitions of this unique symposium. There will be around 300 attendees from across the 5 continents, mainly plastic surgeons, hand surgeons, dermatologists, aesthetic physicians and rheumatologists. Paramedics, scientists, technicians, artists and any physician or person having a special interest in the hand or upper limb aesthetics are also welcome. The MEGA HAND's main interests lie in the three following fields: Clinics, Cosmetics and Symbolism of the Hand and Upper limb. The clinical topics include all the medical and surgical pathologies of the whole upper limb where the visual aspect plays an important role and where treatments not only improve the function but also the aesthetic appearance and the body image. “Aesthetics is already function.” (R. VILAIN) “The hand is not only function.” (MEGA HAND) Further, the specifities of using on hands treatments that have been already applied to the face and body will also be discussed. “The hand is a challenging area, what works on hands works everywhere.” (MEGA HAND) In the cosmetic field, the aging of the hand and the upper limb and the corresponding rejuvenating techniques will be addressed. “Aesthetics is not only face, breasts and figure, but also hands.” (MEGA HAND) Lastly and because hands like the face are socially very important, some non medical topics such as the symbolism of the hand or the hand in arts will be integrated in the sessions with the aim of providing a global view on hand aesthetics. “The hand is the extension of the brain.” (ANAXAGORAS) For this 3rd edition, the key topic will be Hand and Upper Limb Fat Grafting. During a 2 hour session, the interest of fat grafting for both clinical and cosmetic indications will be discussed. Sydney COLEMAN and Pierre-François FOURNIER, two pioneers in this field, will moderate this exciting session.
Seven round tables will also be organized on Fingertip aesthetic reconstruction, Perforator flaps for upper limb reconstruction, Hand burns and Skin substitutes, Aesthetic aspects in Dupuytren’s disease, Inner arm rejuvenation, Skin-surface treatments on hands, Superficial injections in hands. Around 75 prestigious speakers from over 25 countries will participate in these sessions ensuring a very high scientific level. This meeting is of course open to free papers, the deadline for abstract submission is January 17, 2010. We will do our utmost to ensure that this meeting takes place in a convivial and friendly atmosphere allowing fruitful exchanges of information.
